Friends, February flew by in a blur. I will admit that I didn’t get much done this month, aside from work, my internship, and my Japanese class, but that’s okay. I expect this year to have its ups and downs. I hope this month was good for you, friends. Let’s get into what my best finds of the month were.
Entertainment 📺
As I went through this month, I found I was putting one of my favorite animes on in the background. My Hero Academia is a fun story of a society built around people who have superpowers called Quirks. Quirks can vary from person to person, and it’s always fun to see what Quirks have been created.
I find myself watching Season 4 the most at the moment. The characters introduced into this season are so fun and compelling. I would definitely recommend checking things out. For those who want content warnings, there is some language in the anime that can be easily taken out with a profanity filter, and one of the characters tends to be a bit of creep, but things definitely tone down with him once you get past the third season.
Books and Reading 📖
I read a grand total of three books this month, which is abysmal to me, but que sera sera, right? One of the books, I wrote about on my Substack and can be found here. I would 100% recommend you check out this book by a fellow Substacker!
The Fated
Happy Monday, dear friends! I hope you had a wonderful day today. I was excited to write this review, as I can support a fellow Substack author. Katelynsam, thank you for the opportunity to read your novel and review it!
Hobbies 🧶🪡
This month, I crocheted a collection of heart keychains to give to the girls in my office. I work at a small college here in Southern California, and the majority of the workers are girls. These girls are super sweet and very kind. They’re single, and so I wanted to make sure they felt loved on this day, even if they didn’t have a guy in their lives to do so.
If you’d like to crochet these too, you can find the pattern here! It’s very simple and these six or so only took me a few hours to make up.
Scripture 🌄
I’ll be honest with you, friends. I let my Bible reading slip this month. I complete my teaching internship hours early in the morning, have work during the day, and do my lesson planning and Japanese study in the evening. It was so easy to let my time with the Lord slip if I wasn’t intentional about it. And I wasn’t I didn’t prioritize it in the morning, and because of that, I found myself doing it later and later in the day until I would say, “Lord, I’m so tired.”
I praise the Lord for a great and merciful God who loves me despite my wavering loyalty. He will continue to love me, even when I don’t make the time for Him, but I shouldn’t rest easy on that fact. I would be sad if I wanted to spend time with a friend and he or she would constantly say, “I just don’t have the time.” I should remember that my Lord feels the same way and work to spend time with Him.
With all of that said, I am working to get caught up so that I can continue to walk with my Lord. It’s not too late to start over, friends! Walking with the Lord is a choice. Make good choices today!
Quote of the Month 🖋️
“To be discouraged is a part of your training.” — Rev. Kensho Furuda
Thanks for reading about my best finds in February! Have you discovered anything in the past month that you’ve enjoyed? Let me know about it!
Have a wonderful day, my friends!
This was such a thoughtful and uplifting read. I really appreciate the honesty and personal insight you shared. It’s a beautiful reminder to stay grounded and keep growing, even in the small things.
I recently saw an ambience of all the nature scenes from Miyazaki movies that HBO max uploaded to YouTube, and it’s been my fave thing to put on in the background. Thanks again for reading The Fated!
